    Making Friends and Keeping Friends

“As you get older you find that people get more set in their ways; they often don’t want to get out of their comfort zone; they have their set friends,” said Stanley, “and that may not be the life you’re content with, so you need to do a little more exploring to find your place; define your new lifestyle.”  “I talk a lot about that in the book,” said Stanley, “about making friends and keeping friends.”  (more…)

dreamstimefree 7367093 Retirement: Lets Change the RulesMexico physician and visionary, Dr. Jesus Gonzalez-Gaytan, former Medical Director of AmeriMed Hospital at Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and currently founder and CEO of One-Stop Medical is paving the way for Americans to maintain their health and standard of living abroad in Mexico.

$660/year for urgent care for “snow birds”

One-Stop Medical in Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) offers an innovative $660/year urgent care medical coverage plan for people living more than six months a year in Mexico’s popular resort town of Puerto Penasco, ‘Rocky Point’, and plans to expand the plan to other livable communities within Mexico.

    Marketing to Baby-boomers

You don’t need a crystal ball to see that foreign land developers looking to attract Baby-Boomers in the age bracket of 40 – 65 to buy 2nd home or retirement property will sell more homes by including information to consumers on accessible medical facilities and health care in or near their land development projects.

Ask Before You Buy Into a Destination

“It amazes me that people buy million dollar homes in Mexico in locations that are booming with new home developments, but without ever asking themselves the question, ‘what if I have a heart attack; what will happen to me?’  I suggest you get that question answered to your satisfaction before you buy a home,” said Frank Carrillo, founder and CEO of SIMNSA, the only foreign HMO provider accredited by the CA Dept. of Managed Care.  (more…)

Living abroad part time or full time, is just one of many ways in which our world is flattening.  Many entrepreneurs view living an enriched lifestyle abroad a natural extension of the effective cost reduction solution which businesses have used for many years, off-shoring.

    Financial Health

For instance, based on an income level of $50,000 a year, here is a cost of living comparison between Seattle, WA, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  Granted, neither location is the ‘cheapest’ place to live, but both are recognized as desirable destinations in terms of quality of lifestyle.  Cost of living, cost of doing business, these are considerations of interest to everyone.

living abroad activated Living and Retiring Abroad How Retirees define a livable communities abroadThe proximity of good foreign medical practitioners define a livable community for retirees living abroad in much the same way good school districts define desirable livable communities in the States.  And from the standpoint of retirees, the attitude of health and wellness providers and access to quality healthcare are the top priority

    Preventative Health

Where you’ll find surgeons and hospitals at the top of the list for medical tourists, what you’ll find at the top of the list for retirees are foreign wellness practitioners like chiropractors, acupuncturists, dentists, naturopaths and family doctors, because these are the services required to maintain active retiree lifestyles.

For instance, Washington State couple Nancy & Randy Krause chose as one of their favorite foreign destinations Puerto Vallarta, Mexico because they enjoy the sunny climate and know that, while there, they have access to the chiropractic care they require in addition to good dentists and overall quality healthcare.
